What long-term RV living actually costs

The honest answer is your space rent plus the things it does not cover. Here the rent is $400 or $450 a month depending on the amp service, with water, electric, and sewer inside it — and the rest of your budget is propane, fuel, laundry, insurance, and keeping the rig itself running.

Space rent

This is the anchor number, and it is the one you can nail down first. A 30 amp space is $400 a month. A 50 amp space is $450. Stays here are monthly — there is no nightly or weekly rate — and the minimum is 30 days, so the monthly figure is the figure, not a starting point that climbs with fees.

There is no deposit, and the first month is prorated from the day you move in, so the money you need on day one is smaller than at most places that take a deposit and a full first month up front.

What is already in that number here

Water, electric, and sewer are included, and so is wifi. That is the part of a rate comparison people get wrong, because two parks quoting similar rent can mean very different monthly totals once power is metered at one and not the other.

When you are comparing anywhere against anywhere, the question to ask is not "what is the rent" but "what arrives after the rent." A metered space can be the cheaper line item in March and the more expensive one in August, when a rig's air conditioning runs most of the day. Ask every park you call whether power is metered, and you will be comparing the same thing.

What is not in it

These are the categories every RV resident pays, wherever they park. They are not park charges and the numbers are yours, not ours — but leaving them out of the arithmetic is how a budget goes wrong in month three.

  • Propane. Heat, hot water, and cooking on most rigs. It is a winter number more than a summer one.
  • Fuel. The drive to the lease, every day, which for most residents here is the second-largest housing-adjacent cost after the rent.
  • Laundry. There is laundry on site. Call for the current cost — it is not posted here because we would rather quote it than guess it.
  • RV insurance. Required to move in, and a real monthly line whether or not you are financing the rig.
  • Maintenance. Tires, roof and window seals, the water heater, and the holding-tank fittings. A rig lived in year-round wears like a house and a vehicle at the same time.

If you are financing the rig, the payment belongs here too. That is the honest comparison against an apartment: rent against rent plus a note, with the difference that at the end of the note you own the thing you live in.

Questions about cost

What does a monthly RV space cost in Midland?

Here it is $400 a month for a 30 amp space and $450 for a 50 amp space, with water, electric, and sewer included. Rates elsewhere vary, and the number that matters is what the rate does and does not cover.

Is electricity extra?

Not here. Electric is inside the monthly rate along with water and sewer, so there is no meter reading and no separate power bill in August.

Is living in an RV cheaper than an apartment here?

It depends on what you already own. If the rig is paid for, your housing cost is close to the space rent; if you are financing one, the payment and the insurance belong in the comparison alongside the rent.

What other costs should I plan for?

Propane, fuel, laundry, RV insurance, and routine maintenance on the rig — tires, seals, and the water heater are the usual ones. None of those are park charges; they are what living in a rig costs anywhere.

If you are pricing a six-month stay or a year, call and we will give you the rate and what is open. Nothing on this site takes a payment — it is a phone call or the inquiry form.
